Phoebe Katherine Stovall Fox was born April 15, 1919, in Prescott, Washington, to William James Stovall and Charlotte May Southwick Stovall. She passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska.
Phoebe was raised in Prescott, and was baptized in the Christian Church there when she was 10 years old. It was there that she met Harold Fox. Harold and Phoebe were married August 18, 1940. They had two children, Sam, born March 13, 1942, at Renton, Washington, and Alana (Moorhead) born in Walla Walla, Washington, on September 28, 1945.
The family lived for several years in Prescott. In 1951 they moved to Havre, Montana, where Harold worked in construction. In 1953 they moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, so Harold could attend Nebraska Christian College. Phoebe worked in several jobs in Norfolk so Harold could finish college.
In May of 1957 the Foxes moved to Ryegate, Montana, where they were involved in establishing a Christian Church. Six years later they moved to Malta, Montana, to minister to the Christian Church there. They lived in Malta for 11 years. They were both involved in the work of church youth camps.
In 1974 Harold and Phoebe moved to Sutton, Nebraska. In December of 1978 they moved to Pasadena, California, where Harold attended Fuller Theological Seminary. They also had a type setting business in Pasadena. In November of 1978 Harold and Phoebe moved back to Norfolk, Nebraska, where they both worked for Nebraska Christian College, he as printer, and she as a cafeteria worker.
In 1985 Harold and Phoebe moved to Edgar, Nebraska. For several years Phoebe worked as a library aid in the Edgar Elementary School as a volunteer. She also did some volunteer work at the Rose Brook Care Center.
Phoebe entered Rose Brook Care Center as a resident in September of 2009, where she resided until her death.
Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, four brothers, her husband, and one grandson, Alex Fox. She is survived by her son Sam and his wife Jackie of Aurora, NE; daughter Alana and her husband Wayne Moorhead of Edgar, NE; grandson Sherman Fox, his wife Sheryl, daughter Nadia and son Arric of Topeka, KS; granddaughter Kristy (Moorhead) Jernigan, her husband Pat and son Ian of Plainview, TX; granddaughter-in-law Devina Fox and daughter Alyssa of Topeka, KS; and granddaughter Brenda (Moorhead) Kollbaum and husband Jason, of Moville, IA; and two sisters, Betty (Stovall) Mason of Walla Walla, WA, and Ruth (Stovall) Flynn of Fairbanks, AK. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Memorial services will be held this Monday, February 1, 2010, at 10:00 AM. at the Christian Church in Edgar, NE. Pastor David King will be officiating. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar, NE is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wmsfh.com. There will be no visitation; the body was cremated.
