Richard "Dick" Hanson, age 70, of Bladen, Nebraska died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., December 22, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Bladen, Nebraska with the Rev. Michael Lee Burgess officiating. Interment was at the East Lawn Cemetery.
The son of Retta (Wilson) and Ardner Hanson, he was born April 24, 1939 on the family farm in Webster County, Nebraska. Dick graduated from the Campbell High School with the class of 1957. Following the completion of his formal education, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve his country.
On September 26, 1964 he was united in marriage with his wife, Rosalea, at the United Brethern Church in Lincoln. This union was blessed with three sons, Rick, Colby and Trevor. After his discharge from service, Dick worked as a mechanic in Lincoln and then in 1966 began his employment with Werner Construction in Hastings. He retired in 2003.
In his leisure time Dick possessed several interests and hobbies. He enjoyed truck and tractor pulls, mud runs, fishing and hunting. He especially cherished the time spent camping with his grandkids. He was also an avid reader of western novels.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Shirley Secrest.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Rosalea Hanson of Hastings, Nebraska; his sons and grandchildren: Rick and Traci Hanson and children Jade and April Hanson of Lincoln, Nebraska; Colby and Wendy Hanson and children Taran, Trista and Taylor of Holstein, Nebraska; and Trevor and Angela Hanson and sons Avery and Samuel of Lincoln; two sisters, Rochelle Sims of Bladen, Nebraska and Roxanna Kendall and husband Paul of Fairview, Utah; two brothers, Johnny Hanson and wife Cheryl of Norfolk, Nebraska and Con Hanson and wife, Ursulla of Port Byron, Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
