Patricia D. "Pat" Secrest, age 81, of Red Cloud, Nebraska died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Grandview Manor Nursing Home in Campbell, Nebraska.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, 3:00 p.m., December 22, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings, Nebraska with the Rev. Jon Hansen officiating.

Patricia Dawn Secrest, the daughter of Tena Ellan (Morgan) and Marion Rayfield Reichstein, was born April 21, 1928. She departed this life on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Grandview Manor in Campbell, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Pat grew up in the Campbell area and graduated from the Campbell High School with the class of 1945. On May 24, 1947 she was united in marriage with Harold Edgar Secrest at Mankato, Kansas. Pat and Harold made their home at Red Cloud where she worked for a time with the JC Penny Store. They then owned and operated the Red Cloud Bakery for 15 years. After selling the bakery, Pat worked at Taylor Rexall Drug until her retirement.

Pat was a woman of many talents and interests. She was very creative and enjoyed working with her hands. She enjoyed cake decorating and for years made exquisite dolls which she shared with family and friends. Pat's home was an antique show place, as she enjoyed scouting the area sales and auctions. In her leisure time she also enjoyed gardening, growing her flowers, and she was always a great lover of pets and birds. After her husband, Harold, was stricken by a debilitating stroke in December of 1980, Pat dedicated herself as a caregiver and lovingly attended to Harold's needs until his death June 1, 1991.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Jacqueline Medlen and husband Harold "Cody" of Grand Island, Nebraska; a nephew, Dale Medlen, other relatives and friends.
