CM "Carol" Felton, age 86, of Guide Rock, Nebraska died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Friday, 10:30 a.m., November 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Guide Rock with the Rev. Floyd Richardson officiating. Interment was in the Guide Rock Cemetery.
CM "Carol" Felton, the son of Clara Arvilla (Springer) and Columbus Thiadric "Lum" Felton, was born May 5, 1923 in Benton County, Arkansas. He departed this life on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 17 days.
Carol moved with his family as a young boy in the fall of 1928 to Salina, Kansas. He received his formal education attending the Salina schools. Following the completion of his formal education, Carol began his employment with the city of Salina. In 1985, after 41 years of service to his community, he retired as the City Street Superindendent.
On December 14, 1940 Carol was united in marriage with Geraldine Kempton at Salina. This union was blessed with five daughters, Donna, Sharon, Linda, Ruth and Becky. Carol was a dedicated and devoted husband and father, and his family were his greatest love and enthusiasm in life. His personality was pervaded by a strong work ethic and a dedication to his principles. He patiently took his time to teach and guide, whether it was with his daughters, or working with his employees in the city's street department crew. In their younger years the family enjoyed and looked forward to camping trips to the Ozarks.
In 1989, Carol and Geraldine moved to the Guide Rock community to make their home. In January of 2009, due to their failing health, they moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Superior.
Preceding him in death were a grandson, John; a great grandson, Trenton, and his step-brother, Clifford Eugene Felton.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Geraldine; his daughters, Donna Siart and husband Bob of Grafton, Massachusetts; Sharon Christensen and husband Bob of Phillipsburg, Kansas; Linda Arrants and husband Lonnie of Salina, Kansas; Ruth Smith and husband Nelson of Carthage, Missouri; and Becky Gay and husband Mike of Guide Rock, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Felton of Salina, Kansas; other relatives and friends.
