Harold E. McCauley the son of Carl and Eva McCauley was born September 29, 1924 at Fairfield, Nebraska. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at his home in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 85 years.
Harold had been a life long resident of Clay County growing up near Edgar. Harold attended Hart rural school and Edgar High School and graduating with the class of 1941. On May 22, 1946 Harold was united in marriage to Jennie M. Hoffman at Mankato, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, three daughters and one son.
Harold made farming his career, growing crops and raising livestock. He retired in 1994 and moved to Hastings to enjoy his retirement years. While in Hastings Harold worked part time for Business World Products and Armours.
Harold never knew a stranger and always enjoyed a conversation with anyone who would stop and visit. In his spare time Harold made lawn ornaments such as windmills and wishing wells. Harold also enjoyed the company of his loyal dog and companion Buddy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Vivian, brother Orval, son in law Steve Roemmich and wife Jennie.
He is survived by his daughers Chris McCauley of Kearney, Nebraska; Donita Roemmich of LaSalle, Colorado, son Duane McCauley of Edgar, Nebraska, grandchildren: Cody McCauley, Jacy McCauley, Jennie Roemmich and Heather Roemmich, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held this Friday 11:00 a.m., October 23, 2009 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, Nebraska. Pastor David King will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Edgar Cemetery.
