Cindy Lee (Clark) Garvin, age 49, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at her home in Grand Island following a short illness with liver cancer.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., August 25, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Cloud with the Rev. Richard Fairbanks officiating. Interment will be in the Walnut Creek Cemetery south of Inavale, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held Monday, 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud, and Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
The daughter of Lillian (Schlaich) and Carroll Clark, she was born March 20, 1960 at Grand Island, Nebraska. Cindy received her formal education attending the Grand Island schools. On May 20, 1978 she was united in marriage with Kevin D. Garvin at Hastings, Nebraska.
Cindy held several positions of employment through the years including the OK Cafe, Marshalltown Inc., Andy's Cafe and Armour all in Hastings, and she also worked for a time at the Good Samaratin Center in Superior. Following her husband's death on October 28, 2008, she returned to Grand Island to make her home.
In her leisure time she enjoyed collecting angels and frog statues. She also had a large collection of USA memorabilia. Cindy looked forward to playing cards, fishing and sewing. The companionship of her dog, Suzzie Q, brought her great comfort.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Kevin; and an infant brother.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kelli Garvin and son, Jermiah Garvin both of Omaha, Nebraska; nine sisters and brothers: Vickie Burks and husband James of Denver, Colorado; Debra Grosch and husband Robert of Denver; Shirley Ginn and husband Leon of Trumbull, Nebraska; Betty Clark of Grand Island, Nebraska; Linda Morrow and husband Joe; Jerry Clark of Denver, Colorado; Garry Clary and wife Lisa of Hastings, Nebraska; Larry Clark of Grand Island, Nebraska; and Brenda Frevik and husband Alan of South Dakota; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Garvin of Red Cloud; nieces, nephews, great neices, great nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
