Margaret Stella Williams, the daughter of Effie (Landes) and Thomas Charles Wilkins, was born July 11, 1921 in Lucas County, Iowa. She departed this life on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska on her 89th birthday.

Margaret received her formal education attending schools in Lacona, Iowa and Smith County, Kansas, graduated from the Lebanon High School with the class of 1939. She taught rural schools in Smith county for four years.

On June 2, 1943 she was united in marriage with Marvin J. Williams at Smith Center, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters, Margaret and Barbara. They made their home farming and raising livestock near Womer until 1973, when they moved to Red Cloud.

Margaret was involved with the Nebraska Extension work, and played the accordian with the Senior Swingers band. She was a member of the EUB/Methodist Church for 36 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, music and baking. She made many lovely quilts and was very precise in her work. Her great grandkids affectionately called her the "Cookie Grandma." Her personality was pervaded by her warmth, graciousness and wit. She was very non-judgemental and accepted a person for who they were.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marvin, on August 24, 2006; her daughter, Margaret Albin; a granddaughter, Shannon; a sister, Alice Self; and son-in-law, Joe Moore.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Barbara Moore of Wichita, Kansas; three grandsons, Bill Albin and wife Julie; Jeff Albin and wife Chris, and Herb Albin and wife Steph; 5 great granddaughters and a step-great grandson; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:30 p.m., July 14, 2010 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Red Cloud with the Rev. Richard Fairbanks officiating. Interment will be at the Red Cloud Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Auld Public Library at Red Cloud.
