Elsa P. Dafford, age 76, of Burr Oak, Kansas died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Joseph, Missouri. Funeral services were held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., March 10, 2010 at the Christian Church in Burr Oak, Kansas with the Rev. Richard Cox officiating. Interment was at the Burr Oak Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established by the family. Elsa Pauline Dafford, the eighth of ten children of Bertha (Kuck) and Grover Culp, was born October 16, 1933 at Fairbury, Nebraska. She departed this life on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Joseph, Missouri. Elsa grew up in the Fairbury area and received her formal education attending rural Jefferson county schools. She was united in marriage with James Wesley Dafford on May 5, 1952 at Fairbury. They continued to live in Fairbury until 1964, when they moved to California, making their home in the Modesto area. In 1999, Elsa moved to Burr Oak. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing and quilting. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for her family. Elsa especially looked forward to time spent with her grandkids. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James, on March 13, 1981; an infant son at birth; a son, Francis LaVern Dafford; sisters, Margaret Culp and Ruth Baker; half-brother, Earl Culp; and two half-sisters, Wilma Clark and Marie Wilmont. Left to treasure her memory are her six sons, Robert G. Dafford and wife Cheryl of St. Joseph, Missouri; Russell of Burr Oak; Ronald of Modesto, California; Raymond of Gaylord, Kansas; Richard of Burr Oak, Kansas, and Roger Dafford and wife Kathy of St. Joseph, Missouri. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Lisa Rambeau, Caroline Buckley, Robert G. Dafford II, Amber Dafford, Rachel Dafford and Russell Dafford; one great grandson, Kaiden Rambeau; three brothers: Louis Culp and wife Mary of Marshall, Missouri; John Culp and wife Darlene, and Russell Culp and wife Doris all of Fairbury, Nebraska; four sisters: Leona Heyen of Hastings, Nebraska; Loretta Ayers and husband Ivan of Fairbury; Muriel "Midge" Oliver of Burr Oak; and Dorothy Jonas of Independence, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
