Pauline G. Darwin, age 96, of Lincoln, Nebraska died Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Village Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., February 17, 2010 at the Baptist Church in Guide Rock with the Rev. Floyd Richardson officiating. Wanda Langer was the organist. The casketbearers were Charles Ohmstede, Howard ohmstede, John Ohmstede, Bill Ohmstede, Bruce Ohmstede, Mark Bush and Noel Bush. Interment was at the Guide Rock Cemetery.
Pauline "Gay" Darwin, eldest child of Grace Eloise (Matthews) and George Walter Darwin, was born in Walnut Township, Jewell County, Kansas on January 21, 1914. She departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Village Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She attended elementary school in District 87 Mr. Zion, Webster County, Nebraska. Gay boarded in Guide Rock and graduated with the Class of 1931 at the Guide Rock High School. She attended the University of Nebraska and taught 10 years in Webster County. In 1942, she moved to Lincoln where she worked at Western Electric as an associate engineer for 35 years.
She loved to travel and spent many hours researching her family history.
Preceding her in death were her parents, an infant brother and a nephew, George Ohmstede.
Gay is survived by two younger sisters, Barbara Bush of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Bonnie Ohmstede of Guide Rock, Nebraska; 6 nephews, Noel Bush and wife Karen and children Justine and Allie Marie; Mark Bush and John, Howard, William and Charles Ohmstede; and many other relatives and friends.
